Get Started

UBI contains numerous modules containing various types of data.  Please follow the following steps to gain access.

  1. Determine which role or role(s) you should request from the UBI Roles/Responsibilites information below.

  2. As of April 18, UBI System Access Requests are done through Workday.  All new requests should be made using the System Access Requests application on your Home Page in Workday:

    clipboard with a lock icon

  3. Once you have opened the application, select UBI Access Requests.  More detailed instructions on completing an Access Request are available in the University Business Intelligence section of How to Request Access to UVA Systems (beginning April 18).

  4. If you have not already done so, complete the online training for UBI in Workday.  You may take either Intro to UBI – Finance, a class oriented toward Finance data, or Intro to UBI – SIS, which is oriented to Student data.  You need not take both, even if you are requesting access to both Finance and Student data; however, you may do so if you wish.  See the Training page for more information.  Additional classes and workshops may be offered on the Training page, but do not meet this requirement.
