A proud Charlottesville native, Shannon graduated from Old Dominion University with a degree in Finance. He began his report development career in the healthcare sector, starting with Martha Jefferson and UVA Medical Center. While at Martha Jefferson, Shannon became self-taught with using Cognos reporting software, which led to the creation of his Report Developer position.
Within Managerial Reporting, Shannon's primary responsibilities are creating QVD Generators, Data Models and Modules in UBI; providing Jmeter performance testing for all UBI modules; serving on rotational schedule as Reporting Ops to help with UBI Community questions or issues. He also works with Reporting Analysts to incorporate user feedback and requests into UBI modules. Shannon feels most rewarded in his role from gaining a better understanding of how higher education works, getting to meet and work with different users at the University, as well as learning from co-workers ("Knowledge sharing is a great thing!" Shannon adds).
Outside the office, Shannon enjoys his time with his wife and their three children. He enjoys fishing (even using his drone to surf fish at Nags Head), target shooting, and lounging on the couch watching television. He also serves as a bus driver at his church, assisting those who have limited or no transportation. As a huge Washington Redskins and UVA Football (as well as all UVA Athletics) fan, he attends as many games during the season as he's able!
