Born and raised Southern California, Mark headed east to Charlottesville for college and has called Virginia home since graduation. After earning a degree in History from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the University of Richmond, he worked in the publishing and printing industries for close to two decades in various production, customer service, pricing, and finance roles. Prior to joining UVa, Mark spent 7 years at General Electric, where he served as a Senior Finance Analyst, working closely with IT to develop a data warehouse, using reporting and analytics to support a variety of operations and financial processes.
Mark’s focus on data, analytics, and reporting has evolved from his interest streamlining processes, solving problems, and enabling his colleagues using technology.
As Business Intelligence Lead for Managerial Reporting at UVa, Mark finds reward in bridging the gap between technical and non-technical, working with his team and others to implement time-saving solutions and simplify access to information. He looks forward to working with MRP/UBI stakeholders to uncover insights and facilitate new ways of using data and information to advance the University’s mission. When he’s not leading the Reporting Team, Mark and his wife enjoy gardening, hiking, attending Cavalier football and basketball games, and spending time with their dogs.
